The Kings fell to the Edmonton Oilers last night 5-2 after a 13-day hiatus between games. With the NHL All-Star break in between, the Kings were able to get some much deserved rest for the upcoming sprint to the end the regular season as they will play their final 34 games across just 70 days.
But, the second half of the Kings campaign for a playoff spot did start with a loss as the Kings surrendered four third period goals to the Oilers. Arthur Kaliyev started off the scoring in the first period with a tip-in from a Brendan Lemieux net-front pass to give the Kings the lead 16:00 into the game. Things got interesting late in the third period when Phillip Danault tied the game at two a piece with a beautiful behind-the-net feed from Viktor Arvidsson.

The Oilers went on to take the lead at the 15:14 mark of the third period and would add two empty net goals, pushing the lead to an insurmountable three goals.
Cal Petersen started for the Kings and stopped 24 of 27 shots.
