Head Coach Doug Weight will coach the game at Barclays Center, while Associate Coach Greg Cronin will be behind the bench at PPL Center. Weight said he expects his players to be more conscious of the NHL's crackdown on slashing after a penalty-filled game against the New York Rangers on Monday, where the Islanders were hit with seven slashing minors.
"We have to be better at it, they're going to call it," Weight said. "You're either going to be the team with eight PKs and five power-plays, or the team with five PKs and eight power plays. We have to wrap our head around it."
Thomas Greiss is expected to make his preseason debut at Barclays Center. The Islanders goalie went 26-18-5 last season and inked a three-year extension in January to stay with the team.
The Islanders are currently 1-0-1 in preseason play, scoring a 3-2 OT win over the Flyers on Sunday at Barclays Center before falling 1-0 in OT to the Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Monday.
