Semyon Varlamov stopped 24 shots for his first shutout of the season, as the New York Islanders blanked the Ottawa Senators 3-0 on Tuesday night at UBS Arena.
Scott Mayfield (1G, 1A) broke a scoreless game at 9:49 in the third period, Anders Lee added an insurance goal and Zach Parise iced it with an empty netter, as the Isles improved to 6-1-1 in their last eight games. In the process, the Isles swept the season series vs the Sens and improved to 9-1-0 in their last 10 games vs Ottawa.
The Islanders also extended their home winning streak to five games on Tuesday night.
