Semyon Varlamov stopped 24 shots for his first shutout of the season, as the New York Islanders blanked the Ottawa Senators 3-0 on Tuesday night at UBS Arena.
Scott Mayfield (1G, 1A) broke a scoreless game at 9:49 in the third period, Anders Lee added an insurance goal and Zach Parise iced it with an empty netter, as the Isles improved to 6-1-1 in their last eight games. In the process, the Isles swept the season series vs the Sens and improved to 9-1-0 in their last 10 games vs Ottawa.
The Islanders also extended their home winning streak to five games on Tuesday night.

9:49 - NYI 1, OTT 0 - Scott Mayfield pinches off the blueline and deposits a Brock Nelson rebound upstairs on Anton Forsberg. Anders Lee picks up the secondary assist. The goal is Mayfield's third of the season and first in 28 games.
17:25 - NYI 2, OTT 0 - Anders Lee scores an insurance goal, getting to the front of the net and banking a shot off Forsberg's arm and in. Casey Cizikas and Nelson pick up the assists.

Andy Greene drew back into the lineup in place of Sebastian Aho… Ross Johnston drew into the lineup for Kieffer Bellows… Cal Clutterbuck missed his second-straight game… Mayfield's goal was his team-leading fifth point against the Senators this season (1G, 4A)… Lee has 10 goals in his last nine games… Nelson had a team-high three points, picking up three assists...
