TROTZ ON FILPPULA:

"We miss the penalty kill. He's a player that can play power play if needed. He's real versatile, we're missing a good two-way, defensive player, a good offensive guy that can play a little more in that offensive role. When you don't have him, you lose a lot of that flexibility and put a lot of demand on guys like Casey and Nelson."

BAILEY ON THE HURRICANES:

The Islanders are 3-0-0 against the Hurricanes this season and have won seven of the last nine meetings between the teams. Josh Bailey was asked if there was anything to the Isles recent run against the Canes.
"We don't look at it as having their number or not. We've had some tough games against them and found a way to win," Bailey said. "It's a tough game every night playing these guys. They play fast and put a lot of pucks on net, so we have to find a way to play our game and overcome that."

MARTIN'S 600TH GAME:

Matt Martin is set to play his 600th NHL game on Tuesday. Martin has played 467 games with the Islanders in his career, which ranks 33rd on the franchise's all-time games played list. Martin played an additional 132 games in two seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
