The New York Islanders have signed defenseman Logan Stanley to a one-year contract.
Stanley, 28, set career highs in goals (nine), assists (17) and points (26) in 76 games last season with the Winnipeg Jets and Buffalo Sabres. The 6-foot-7, 231-pound defenseman also averaged a career-high 17:12 of ice time in 59 games with Winnipeg.
Originally selected by the Winnipeg Jets in the first round (18th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft, Stanley has 62 career points (14 goals, 48 assists) and a plus-29 rating in 278 career NHL games. He's added four points (two goals, two assists) in 25 career Stanley Cup Playoff games.
A native of Waterloo, Ontario, Stanley played parts of six seasons with Winnipeg before being traded to Buffalo on March 6, 2026. He also posted 32 points (nine goals, 23 assists) in 117 games over two AHL seasons (2018-19 and 2019-20) with the Manitoba Moose.
Before turning pro, Stanley played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Windsor Spitfires and Kitchener Rangers, totaling 80 points (24 goals, 56 assists) in 219 games. He won the 2017 Memorial Cup with Windsor and played for Canada at the 2016 IIHF World Under-18 Championship.
