Winning the WHL Player of the Week last week hasn't slowed Mathew Barzal, who had another big week, extending his point streak to 10 games. Barzal posted two assists in four straight games to start the week, as the Thunderbirds played a grueling five games in seven days. The T-Birds co-captain finished the week with an assist and a shootout goal in a 5-4 win over the Portland Winterhawks on Sunday night.

The 10-game point streak has upped Barzal's season total to 63 points (8G, 55A) in 34 games, nearly a two points-per-game. Barzal tops the Thunderbirds in assists, and sits in second on the team in total points. The Coquitlam, BC native ranks third in the WHL in points per game (1.85), only trailing the league's top two point getters.

Sorokin Stars KHL Playoffs with Win:

Ilya Sorokin backstopped CSKA Moscow to a Game One win over Jokerit in the first round of the KHL playoffs on Tuesday. Sorokin stopped 25-of-27 shots, as CSKA won Game One 4-2. Game Two is set for Thursday, before the series shifts to Helsinki.
Sorokin finished the regular season among the top goaltenders in the KHL as he finished fourth in wins (25) and third in goals against average (1.61).

First Multi-point Collegiate Game for Bellows

Kieffer Bellows recorded a goal and an assist for the No. 4 Boston University Terriers in an 8-4 win over the University of New Hampshire Wildcats on Saturday. The two-point night was a career-high for Bellows.
Bellows assisted on a late second period power-play goal to tie the game 4-4 heading into the third period. The Islanders' 2016 first-round pick later scored the Terriers sixth goal of the game, putting the game out of reach for New Hampshire. The freshman forward also registered a career high six shots on goal in the high scoring win for BU.

Earlier in the week, Bellows scored the opening goal for Boston University in the Beanpot championship game against the Harvard Crimson. Bellows, fellow Islanders prospect Doyle Somerby, and the Terriers fell to Harvard by a score of 6-3 in the final.
Bellows has six goals and five assists for a total of 11 points in his freshman campaign for BU. The Terriers close out the regular season as they host Notre Dame for a series this weekend.

Koivula's Racking Up the Points in February

Otto Koivula, the Islanders' 2016 fourth-round pick, has tallied points in every game in the month of February for Ilves of the Liiga Finnish League. Koivula has three goals and five assists for eight points in six games this month.
Koivula was named the first star after scoring a pair of goals - including the game-winner - in a 4-1 win over HIFK on Tuesday. Ilves' next game was a 4-0 win, in which the Finnish left winger contributed two assists and was named second star. Koivula completed the week with an assist in a 3-2 overtime loss.
In 42 games this season, Koivula has nine goals and 19 assists for 28 points for Illves. Koivula was a member of the 2017 World Junior Finnish team.

Missouri Splits Weekend Games, Win Streak Snapped at Six Games

Missouri Mavericks: 24-20-2-5; 6th in Mountain Division; 10th in Western Conference
Missouri split a pair of weekend home games against the Quad City Mallards and the Toledo Walleye ending their six-game win streak. The win streak was the Mavericks longest of the season.
The Mavs won a tight 2-1 game against Quad City on Saturday night for their sixth straight win, but fell 4-1 to Toledo on Sunday.
The six-game winning streak has helped the Mavs improve to 24-20-2-5 and get above ECHL .500. The Mavs are right in the Western Conference playoff mix, tied with Tulsa and Utah for the final seed with 55 points and trail 7th place Alaska by two points.
This weekend the Mavericks play a pair of home games against the Idaho Steelheads.
