RALEIGH, N.C. - Eric Tulsky, General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced several staff additions and promotions ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Athletic Training: After 16 years with the Hurricanes and nine as the club’s head athletic trainer, Doug Bennett, has stepped down from his position. Donnie Fuller will serve as the Hurricanes new head athletic trainer. He has over 1500 games of NHL experience, including 16 years as the head athletic trainer for the Minnesota Wild. Fuller was most recently working as the head athletic trainer for the USMNT, a position he held for two and a half years. Additionally, Yuji Katsuta joins the Hurricanes as an assistant athletic trainer/massage therapist. He has spent 16 years working as an athletic trainer in collegiate sports, including having worked at Duke University for the last eight years.
Chicago Wolves: RJ Enga has been named an assistant coach for the Wolves. He spent the past five seasons at St. Cloud State University and brings over 20 seasons of coaching experience. Gehrig Sarosy joins the Wolves as their new video coach. He spent the past year as a video coach for Ferris State University, following four years as the video coach and director of hockey operations at Long Island University.
Communications: Mike Sundheim, vice president of communications, will now manage all aspects of production, distribution, sales and marketing for Hurricanes Hockey Network, in coordination with the National Hockey League. Sundheim will continue to oversee the team’s public and media relations efforts, but will no longer serve as the primary point of contact for media requests. Madison White has been promoted to senior manager of communications and will serve as the primary contact for all media requests. Sidney Binger has joined the organization as manager of communications. She has spent the past four years as an assistant director of athletic communications at Northeastern University. Trent Warren, who worked as a communications intern for the past two seasons, is shifting to a full-time role as communications coordinator. In addition to assisting the communications department, he will serve as the NHL EDGE for the broadcast and be a primary contact for on-site broadcast vendors.
Equipment: In addition to serving as the head equipment manager, Jorge Alves will also take on the role of the club’s EBUG for the 2026-27 season.
Player Development: Cam Ward is shifting from a role as a goalie scout to an assistant goalie development coach. His focus in the new role will be supporting the growth and development of Hurricanes goaltending prospects who are on loan to the team’s ECHL affiliate in Greensboro.
Pro Scouting: Dustin Tokarski has joined the organization as a goalie scout. He will assist both the amateur and pro scouting groups in evaluating goalies at all levels, including draft candidates, trade candidates and potential free agents. Zach Ellenthal is shifting into a full-time role as a Pro Scout, after previously serving as a part-time pro scouting consultant.
