Reilly Smith scored a power-play goal in overtime to lift the Vegas Golden Knights (17-6-1) to a 5-4 win against the St. Louis Blues (14-8-5) on Friday night at Enterprise Center.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
After a slow start to the first period, Mark Stone and Jonathan Marchessault scored just 41 seconds apart to build a 2-0 lead for the Golden Knights. Ryan O'Reilly cut into the Vegas lead 5:14 into the middle frame, but Tomas Nosek's second goal of the year gave the visitors a 3-1 edge. Vladimir Tarasenko brought St. Louis back to within one as the game went into the third period. Zach Sanford tied the game five minutes into the third period and David Perron put the Blues ahead with a power-play goal midway through the frame. Alec Martinez answered less than a minute later to tie the game at 4-4 and the game went into overtime. During the extra session, Smith buried a pass from Marchessault to give the Golden Knights the win and snap the team's two-game losing streak.
