Game 2 Recap (April 13) - Vegas Golden Knights 2, Los Angeles Kings 1 (2 OT)
The Vegas Golden Knights held serve on home ice, defeating the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 in double overtime and took a 2-0 lead in the series. Alex Tuch opened the scoring for Vegas 14:47 into the game but the Kings were able to tie the game in the second period. After a scoreless third period, the Golden Knights collected another franchise first: playing in overtime during the playoffs. It took a full 20 minutes and another 15:23 before Erik Haula was able to bury the game-winner. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 29 shots and collected is 64th playoff victory.
Hot Start To Postseason Play
The Vegas Golden Knights became the third team in NHL history to win a playoff game requiring multiple overtimes in its inaugural season. Vegas joined the Blues in Game 3 of the 1968 Quarterfinals vs. PHI and Game 7 of 1968 Semifinals vs. MNS, as well as the Flyers in Game 6 of the 1968 Quarterfinals at STL. The Golden Knights also became the fifth franchise in NHL history to win each of their first two playoff games and just the second to do so in its inaugural season. The only other team to win its first two postseason games during its inaugural season was the Los Angeles Kings, when they started 2-0 in 1968.

Striking First
The Vegas Golden Knights finished the regular season with a 34-5-2 record when scoring the first goal of the game and their .829 win percentage when recording the opening mark ranks second in the NHL. Vegas has scored first in both playoff games this year and hold a 2-0 record.

Defenseman Brayden McNabb's work on the blue line has been turning heads this season. The Davidson, Saskatchewan, native leads the Golden Knights with 225 hits and 176 blocked shots during the 2017-18 season. He is the only player in the NHL to record at least 170 in each category this season. McNabb tallied a career-high 11 hits against the New Jersey Devils (March 4), which was tied for the third most hits in a game this season. He has recorded career-highs in hits (225), blocked shots (176), takeaways (30) and goals (5).
EXPANSION DRAFT SELECTION AND LOS ANGELES CONNECTIONS

April 11, 2018 - The Golden Knights capture their first postseason victory in franchise history. Vegas became the first team in NHL history to win its playoff debut in its inaugural season when facing a non-first-year team. The Golden Knights joined the Rangers (1927), Blues (1968) and Kings (1968) as the only teams to post a playoff shutout in their inaugural NHL season. The Rangers and Blues also achieved the feat in their postseason debut.
