The Philadelphia Flyers lost to the Calgary Flames, 5-2, at the Wells Fargo Center on Monday evening. Philadelphia's winless streak is now at seven games (0-5-2).

In the first period, Calgary grabbed a 2-0 lead on goals by Jonathan Huberdeau (3rd goal of the season) and Dillon Dube (2nd). Blake Coleman assisted on both tallies. One shift after the Dube goal, a Tanner Laczynski deflection (1st NHL goal) narrowed the gap.
Ramus Andersson (2nd) made it 3-1 Calgary at 3:29 of the second period on a shot that deflected in off the stick of Flyers forward Joel Farabee. At 8:03, Joel Farabee (4th) collected an Andrew Mangiapane turnover in the Flames' zone and scored. Blake Coleman restored a two-goal lead with an empty net goal (3rd), Trevor Lewis added an additional empty-net goal with 36.5 seconds left.
Carter Hart stopped 24 of 27 shots. Jacob Markström denied 23 of 25 shots at the other end.
The Flyers went 0-for-3 on the power play. The Flamers were 0-for-2.

TURNING POINT
The Flyers spent most of the night battling uphill. The game-winner from Calgary was one that was deflected accidentally off a Philadelphia stick. The first two Flames goals were on odd-man rushes.
MELTZER'S TAKE
1) The Flames controlled the opening faceoff. Mackenzie Weeger had the game's first shot on goal. Tippett delivered a body check on Andrew Mangiapane at the defensive blueline. At 2:13, Kieffer Bellows found a loose puck at the bottom of the right circle and snapped a shot on goal.
Philly had four of the game's first five shots on goal. At 4:43, the Flames scored to make it 1-0. DeAngelo turned the puck over at the offensive blueline and Blake Coleman moved up to Huberdeau. Attacking with numbers, Huberdeau fired a shot under Hart's blocker and over the pad from the top of the right circle.
The Flyers got an offensive zone faceoff at 6:43 after a strong forechecking shift by the fourth line. Cates lost the ensuing right circle draw.
At 8:40, the trailing referee called a tripping penalty on Braun for taking down Adam Ruzicka. Ristolainen and Deslauriers killed significant time off the clock occupying the puck deep in Calgary ice.
MacEwen dropped the gloves with Dennis Gilbert at 13;06. Many punch attempts were thrown but there was no decisive winner.
At 13:51. the Flames grabbed a 2-0 lead. Tippett was poke-checked by Coleman on an attempted give-and-go with Frost. Weeger moved the puck up to Dube, who lead a 2-on-1 attack and snapped a shot past Hart from the top of the left circle.
On the next shift, at 14:33, Hayes maded a turnaround shot from high in the Calgary zone. From the slot, Laczynski tipped the puck past Markström to cut the gap to 2-1. Hayes and Cates got the assists.
Bellows created the Flyers' first power play opportunity of the game as he was tripped up on the attack by Nikita Zadorov at 15:31. Cates had a chance near the goal line.
2. Neither Calgary goal, albeit on 2-on-1s, were unstoppable shots. Willman played with noticeably good pace. Philly needed more from the Farabee, Frost and Tippett line.
First period shots on goal were 9-9 overall. Shot attempts were 19-17 in the Flyers favor. Philly had nine shot attempts blocked with Gilbert The Flames won 11 of 19 faceoffs with Nazem Kadri going 4-for-4.
3. Seeler made a good keep and threaded a point shot on net for the second period's first shot at 1:58. A point shot by Ivan Provorov off the next faceoff followed. The Brown line won the ensuing draw. Brown deflected a puck on net.
Calgary took a 3-1 lead at 3:29. Play was mostly confined along the boards. An Andersson shot deflected off Farabee's stick and re-directed past Hart into the net. Noah Hanifin and Andrew Mangiapane were credited with assists. The goal came on Calgary's first shot of the period.
Farabee moved to Cates' line on his next shift. Hayes played left wing with Frost and Tippett.
Mangiapane shot wide off a Nazem Kadri saucer pass on a Calgary 2-on-1. On the next shift, the dangerous Huberdeau was the first to a loose puck and fired a tough shot on net.
Milan Lucic was penalized for grabbing hold of Farabee at 12:35. The Flyers went to their second power play. The Flyers got nothing done on the man advantage. Lucic had a scoring chance right after the penalty expired. Moments earlier, the referees missed Farabee getting clipped with a high stick behind the Calgary net.
4. Second period shots on goal were 6-6. The Flames pretty much smothered the Flyers throughout the period, and the Flyers struggled to complete passes or generate any semblance of scoring chances for most of the frame.
5. Hayes centered TIppett and MacEwen on the opening shift of the third period. At the 18-second mark, Hayes sent off for high-sticking Kadri. Hart found an Andersson point shot through a Huberdeau screen. With 30 seconds left in the power play, Sanheim tapped the puck into the net after hit the safety netting and came back out in front. Zadorov went after him. Coincidental minors for unsportsmanlike conduct and roughing were calledd.
Through 6:30, shots in the third period were 5-1 Calgary. The Flyers were often hemmed in with the Flames playing keepaway.
At 8:03, the Flyers got a golden opportunity as Mangiapane made a cross-ice pass in his own zone. Farabee pounced and fired an unassisted goal past Markström to bring Philly back within 3-2.
Hayes was grabbed by Kadri and the Flyers went back to the power play at 11:16. Off a Cates feed, Hayes came within a whisker of scoring. Two Flyers shot attempts hit teammates. Markström stopped a shot from Frost through a screen.
The Flyers pulled Hart for an extra attacker. Philly generated heavy pressure. Finally, a Farabee backhand attempt from the slot was stopped. Coleman got to the puck and scored a long-distance empty net goal at 18:09.
