It's not unfamiliar territory.
The Flames have been here before.
In their opening-round playoff series against the Stars, they found themselves trailing two games to one heading into Game 4 and skated to a 4-1 victory to knot it up in a series they would win in overtime of Game 7.
Following a 4-1 loss to the Oilers Sunday night, the talk Monday was about resetting and refocusing before hitting the ice Tuesday night at Rogers Place.
"We've been in this situation last series and that gives us a little bit of confidence, knowing there's a lot of hockey to be played," said Noah Hanifin. "We're excited about that challenge and that opportunity for tomorrow to tie it up and bring it back home."
"Not just in the last series - I think I've seen it a lot throughout the season," echoed Milan Lucic. "We've bounced back well and all that type of stuff. I think that's where this group has matured a lot compared to groups prior. It's going to be an exciting game tomorrow and we better be ready for it."

The answer to get back on track lies within their dressing room.
"We're a group that really depends on each other," said Associate Coach Kirk Muller. "I think that's a strength of our hockey club, from our D, to our forwards to our goalies. It's everyone being accountable for each other and doing their part. When you do that and have a team that believes in each other and plays for each other, you generally have some pretty good success. That's what we have to do. We have to get ready. It comes down to just get ready, play your game and get ready to play for the guy beside you and the trust factor. 'I'll do my job, you do your job.' When you do that, that's usually when we come out with some of our best performances."
The key for the Flames, as they have done all season, is to attack and defend as five-man unit. That is how they excel.
"It's all connected. When we're playing our best, we're playing well without the puck. It's all connected. ... We've been a good offensive team all year," said Muller "We play the right way. We work together and we just have to get back to that level again. We've always done a good job this year of responding and we've got some good hockey players, we've got some good skilled players, and we've got some good competitive players. We'll tweak some things today and get ready for that game tomorrow."

OLI, OLI, OLI: Oliver Kylington scored his first-career Stanley Cup playoff goal on Sunday and is just the third defenceman on the Flames to record a goal this postseason. Kylington is coming off a career regular season, posting nine goals and 31 points in 73 games (all career highs).
HELPING HAND:Johnny Gaudreau has five assists in the series giving him 86 assists (regular season & playoffs) this season, the second most in a season in Flames franchise history. The record belongs to Kent Nilsson who had 91 assists in 1980-81.

What the Oilers were saying Monday ahead of Game 4:
Head coach Jay Woodcroft:
"I think you have to pick your spots on how you're going to get better. I've said this before, we are trying to get a little bit better each day. We've been very consistent in our messaging right from when Dave (Manson) and I came up from Bakersfield about getting better every day and having that type of growth mindset. You look for those marginal gains each and every day. You need to find ways to get better, sometimes it's how you travel, sometimes it's have you regenerate, sometimes it's how you meet, practice and sometimes it's how you play the game. We had some good meetings, some guys went on the ice and our focus is on being the best we can be heading into Game 4."
Leon Draisaitl:
"We just learned lessons over the last couple years. Couple disappointing endings to our season, couple good runs. It think as you get older and as you grow as a team, you learn how to deal with these ups and downs. We're maturing as a team, we've got older, grown up together. We're learning that playoffs is an up and down ride a little bit. You go up a game, you go down a game, you go up two games - whatever it is. I think we've done a good job of it in staying even keel. The old saying of never too high, never too low. So far I'd say we've done a pretty good job of that."
Tyson Barrie:
"I feel like we should actually be grateful for the last round with the ups and downs of it. It can take teams a full year to learn a lesson like we did last round. We just know that it's far from over. We have a great opportunity in front of us here to take a big step and a big lead. I think the last time we had the opportunity I would say we weren't really close to grabbing it. We know what our game feels like when we are ready, prepared, and when we start on time and get in that rhythm. We know what that feels like and we just got to get to that feeling quickly tomorrow."
