Huska on puck management/team play:

“I wouldn't say 'individual mentality' in regards to effort. The issue that we talked about yesterday was how we managed the puck, at times - and that's something we have to do better job of cleaning up. Often times, THAT falls on the individual but I won't say individual effort-type things.

“Sometimes, it's trying to do a little bit too much. You get into stretches where you want to help the team win, or 'I've got to find a goal at this point in a game,' so you try a little bit too much instead of making a smart, simple play.”

On last meeting with the Rangers:

“It was one of the best games I've been a part of, for sure. There was a lot of energy and a lot of juice in that game. The building in New York was really feeling it at that time, I would say. And two teams that you wouldn't expect to have a little bit of hatred in that game, did. So, it made for a real terrific game to be a part of, for sure. Players remember that. It's nice to have an Original Six team come in in a situation like this, because you always get a little more energy from them with our great fans, for sure, and the players as well. They feel it.”

"They're showing this year to be a very stingy team"

Zadorov on tonight’s game:

“We're below .500, so it's a big game for us. That's the message we have. Can't be feeling sorry for ourselves. Come back, time difference, who cares? Go out there and play. … Obviously, it's exciting for everybody to play against the New York Rangers. Original Six team, a lot of history. So, it's going to be a fun battle tonight.”

On establishing the team’s identity:

“We're trying to figure out our identity. It was a tough road trip for us, not what we were looking for, and there are some things we need to get working on. But I think the main thing for us, we're just not working as a unit. We have too many individuals playing by themselves, so I think we have to figure out if we want to play as a team, or we want to play as their own guy.

“I think it's definitely a good thing for our team. We're only six games into our season and we're trying to figure out who wants to be here and who wants to play for who. We've got lots of time. I don't think our division teams, only one team is rolling right now - pretty everybody's in the same boat as us. I think we can definitely use some wins.”

"We're trying to figure out our identity"

Kadri on last year’s meeting at MSG:

“It had everything. That's what you want in a hockey game and it was probably a game-of-the-year candidate. Of course, it's a new year - I hate to open up past chapters. Even though it's over the course of half a year, two teams that still operate a little bit differently. We're going to have to find a way to get two points tonight.”

On being back at home:

“It's an opportunity. That's the way we look at it. Obviously, against a good team. You want to be prepared on home ice and take advantage of home ice and try to get these wins. We've played five out of six on the road, so it's nice to be home and hopefully we can take care of business.”

On coming together as a team:

“A lot of things have been different this year and sometimes it takes a little time to adjust to. I think now we're starting to get the hang of it. We had a good pre-scout and we have a good gameplan, and now it's time to execute.

“That's part of the team dynamic. You have to put everything out in the open. When you make mistakes, you have to watch those mistakes and correct those mistakes so they don’t continue to happen. For us, we're real comfortable about what we discussed - and like I said, we have a gameplan and it's not going to work unless we go out there and we execute and that's what we plan on doing.”
