DARRYL SUTTER'S THOUGHTS ON THE GAME:

"Couple of penalties ... were momentum shifts"

ANDREW MANGIAPANE ON HOW THE GAME PLAYED OUT:

"I thought we were decent 5-on-5. I thought we came out a little slow. They were scoring on the powerplay there and we've got to limit their chances. … The best way to not let them score on the powerplay is not take a penalty."

MANGIAPANE ON TAKING THE POSITIVES:

"There were some good things that we did. You've got to build on it. Obviously, it wasn't the result we were looking for, but there were some good things that we did and we have to build on it. It's a long season and we still have 81 games left. It's not how we wanted to start, obviously, but we've still got lots of time and we've got to keep building and trending in the right direction."

"It's frustrating"

JACOB MARKSTROM ON BATTLES IN FRONT:

"We want to control in front of me and in front of their net, too. You want to have that presence. That's where a lot of goals are scored in this league - rebounds and bouncing pucks and screens. The dirty areas. That's a battle on both ends and we obviously want to be a better team there."

MARKSTROM ON THE GOALS AGAINST:

"The first one bounced and then (Derek) Ryan batted it. Then they got the powerplay and we did a great job blocking shots and taking away chances - but we blocked it and it goes through to Connor (McDavid)'s stick. The second one, too. It was perfect. I thought we were playing it really (well), but it hit bodies and goes in the net. It's frustrating. Especially when we score to make it 3-2, I feel like we're taking over the game, but right after, that's a tough one to let in ... to give them the 4-2 cushion."
