SEASON SERIES:The Edmonton Oilers have claimed victories in the first two games of the four-game Battle Of Alberta season series, winning a home-and-home set in October. The Oilers opened the year with a 7-4 win at Rogers Place on Oct. 12 and followed that up with a 5-3 victory at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Oct. 14. The two clubs will wrap up the season series on Jan. 21 in Calgary.

FLAMES' TEAM SCOPE: The Flames are coming off of a 2-1 setback to the New Jersey Devils on Friday. Sean Monahan scored Calgary's lone goal, breaking out of a 11-game goalless skid. Chad Johnson made 34 saves in the loss, which was his fourth straight start. Johnson holds a 15-10-1 record with a 2.25 GAA and .924 save percentage. Brian Elliott, whose last start came on Jan. 6 in Vancouver, has a 8-10-1 record with a 2.95 GAA and a .889 save percentage. Mikael Backlund leads the team in scoring with 12 goals and 29 points through 45 games. Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk trail him with 27 points apiece.
OILERS' TEAM SCOPE:With 51 points on the year, the Oilers are third in the Pacific Division and have a three-point lead over the Flames, who sit in the first Wildcard spot in the Western Conference. They picked up a 3-2 overtime win over the Devils on Thursday, with Leon Draisaitl scoring the game-winner. Connor McDavid leads the Oilers with 14 goals and 50 points. Draisaitl (16 goals, 38 points) and Milan Lucic (10 goals, 27 points) round out Edmonton's top three in scoring. Goaltender Cam Talbot is 21-12-6 on the year with a 2.49 GAA and a .917 save percentage.
