ROLLING ALONG
Following wins over Dallas and L.A. this past weekend, Calgary has now won 12 of their past 13 games. The club improved to 17-3-1 since Jan. 26, allowing just 46 goals in that span (fewest in the NHL). The Flames have the most wins (17) and points (35) in the league since Jan. 26. Johnny Gaudreau has led the club with 23 points and 17 assists in those 21 games, while recently added defenceman Michael Stone has not lost a game since being acquired from Arizona on Feb. 20 and has five points (2G, 3A) and a +7 rating in his 10 games for the team.
MOOSE CHASING RECORD
A big part of Calgary's recent run has been the play of goaltender Brian Elliott, who earned his 11th straight victory in Sunday's win over L.A before being named the NHL's Third Star Of The Week on Monday. The 31-year-old netminder tied Mike Vernon's individual franchise record of 11 consecutive wins with the victory against the Kings. Vernon set the record from Jan. 17 - Feb. 27, 1989.
CAPTAIN CLUTCH
Another key player in the Flames runhas been captain Mark Giordano. He has 12 points (6G, 6A) and a +18 rating since Jan. 26. The 33-year-old defenceman seems eager to make his return to the NHL playoffs (having not skated in a postseason game since 2006-07) and his play on the weekend helped illustrate that. Giordano assisted on the game-winner Friday and tallied his career single-season high fourth game-winning goal Sunday. Giordano now has scored or assisted on Calgary's game-winning goal 12 times (4G, 8A).
MILESTONES WITHIN REACH
Mark Giordano - needs 1 goal for 100 in his career.
Kris Versteeg - needs 3 assists for 200 in his career.
