The Czech Republic is now 0-1-1 at the tournament after dropping their opening game 6-0 to Canada.

Team Europe kicked off the scoring in the second period when Zdeno Chara's shot from the boards beat Czech netminder Petr Mrazek at 10:05. The Czechs would even things up just a few minutes later, however, with Jakub Voracek snapping the puck past European goaltender Jaroslav Halak at 13:28.

Mats Zuccarello gave Team Europe a 2-1 lead early in the third frame when Mrazek mishandled his wrist shot but the Czech Republic would even things up before regulation came to a close. Martin Hanzal scored on a rebound that bounced off the back boards and right in front of the net at 8:31, which forced extra time.

Draisaitl's game-winning goal, scored at 2:06 of the extra frame, came after the German forward was able to go streaking in on a breakaway and wrist a shot over Mrazek.

Frolik had one shot, one hit and one takeaway in 11:13 of ice time.

The Czech Republic's next challenge comes in the form of the USA squad. They will face the Americans on Thursday at 6:00 PM MT (Sportsnet, ESPN2, TVA Sports).

Team Europe, who are now 2-0-0 at the World Cup, play Canada on Wednesday at 6:00 PM MT (Sportsnet, ESPN2, TVA Sports).
