Recap: Terry Leads Ducks to 3-2 Comeback Win in St. Louis

Troy Terry scored a third-period goal to force overtime and then buried the game-winner on a penalty shot, earning the Ducks a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues tonight at Enterprise Center. With the win, the Ducks moved into first place in the Pacific Division (16-9-5, 37 points) and capped their five-game road trip with a 3-1-1 record.

Anthony Stolarz made 23 saves in his eighth start of the season. Buddy Robinson also scored for Anaheim.
Anaheim took the night's initial lead on Robinson's first goal as a Duck, the product of a hardworking shift by the fourth line. Sam Carrick grabbed the puck behind the net, spinning a pass towards the slot that bounced off Nic Deslaurier's skate and right to Robinson, who quickly swept it past Blues netminder Jon Gillies to put the Ducks ahead.

With an assist, Carrick set a new career high in scoring (5-2=7) in his 22nd game of the season, also his best in 10 pro seasons.
St. Louis evened the score in the middle frame. Just minutes after Stolarz shut down Pavel Buchnevich on a breakaway opportunity, the Blues capitalized on an odd-man rush with Nathan Walker feed Oskar Sundqvist for a one-timer.
The Ducks nearly took the lead again in the final minutes of the second period as a St. Louis turnover created a 2-on-0 rush for Trevor Zegras and Isac Lundestrom, but Gillies made a sprawling save to rob Lundestrom at the far post.
St. Louis took the lead with just over 12 minutes to play as Walker snapped a wrist shot over Stolarz's shoulder and just under the bar.
Playing the second half of a back-to-back and the final game of a five-in-seven nights road trip, the Ducks refused to go down quietly, tying the game on a mad netfront scramble. Anaheim gained the line on a pretty passing play, springing Cam Fowler for a point-blank chance in front. Gillies made the initial save but could not corral the rebound, and Terry got to it first, punching the loose puck home to tie the game with just over six minutes to play.

The game-tying score snapped a five-game goalless drought for Terry. The 24-year-old leads Anaheim in points (17-11=28), goals and power-play goals (four).
Terry had a monopoly on the best scoring chances in overtime, first coming inches from the winning goal on a forehand bid from the slot ring off the post and stay out to keep the game moving. On his next shift, Terry poked the puck away in the neutral zone and raced in on a breakaway, only to be halled down by St. Louis' Scott Perunovich. Terry was awarded a penalty shot and made no mistake, beating Gillies with a backhand move to give the Ducks a 3-2 comeback win.

Terry's penalty shot goal in overtime marked the third time a Ducks game has been decided on an OT penalty shot, and the first since Mar. 2, 2011 vs. Detroit (Bobby Ryan goal vs. Jimmy Howard).
