The Ducks (41-30-5) look to return to their winning ways as they host the Flames (31-36-8) for the final time this season.
Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. PT and will air on FOX 11 and Victory+.
Anaheim fell to the Blues last night in a lopsided 6-2 affair. Ryan Poehling had the team’s opening goal as well as an assist while Jeffrey Viel had the other score.
“We even have a decent start, and then we gave them three goals in the first period that were definitely all our faults,” head coach Joel Quenneville said. “They gave us a good education on playing a real solid team game, and we didn't play with the urgency that was needed and are capable of sustaining their game. We chased the puck a lot.”
As of today, the Ducks and Oilers are still tied atop the Pacific Division with 87 points, but Edmonton holds a tiebreaker over Anaheim to have the first-place edge.
"Everyone knows the scenario that we're in," Poehling said postgame. "Last two games, I thought we played good hockey. Tonight wasn't the case.”
All of the Ducks’ remaining games are against Western Conference teams, making tonight’s second game of a back-to-back against the Flames that much more important.
Anaheim is 3-0-0 against Calgary this season with each of the games going to overtime or shootouts. This is the final meeting between the teams this regular season.
“Let’s find a way to take care of our business, and we’ve got a lot of business to take care of here,” Quenneville said.
The Flames are on a skid of their own losing their last two games. The most recent loss came Thursday to the Golden Knights, 6-3.
Statuses of Cutter Gauthier, Radko Gudas, and Pavel Mintyukov are up in the air for tonight as yesterday, Quenneville noted Gauthier would be “questionable at best” vs Calgary.
