Anaheim Ducks

Ryan Kesler
On the second period
Individually, we need to be professional and prepare ourselves. We gave this one away tonight. It's not a good feeling.

On the third period
I thought we were good in the third period. Maybe they had a couple of shifts, but when you run into a team that's up by one, they're going to sit back. We did a good job of grinding them out.

On the Wild
They're a good team. But saying that, I think we gave away points tonight. We were the better team in the first and third periods, but in the second period, for a couple of minutes, we gave it away.

Andrew Cogliano
On the game
We had a pretty good first [period]. Did a lot of good things, but we had a bad second period. They out-worked us and that's why we took a couple of penalties. They seemed to have a little bit more energy in the second, which is probably unacceptable in terms of the situation. That's when they won the game. We got our game back in the third and probably could've had one.

On the second period
Mentally, we have to prepare ourselves better. We made some uncharacteristic mistakes in the d-zone. We gave them an easy goal and took a penalty, and they scored at the end of it.

Head Coach Randy Carlyle
On the second period
We got out of sorts and took a penalty. We gave up a 5-on-3 goal and we don't manage to clear the puck after Cam [Fowler] came out of the box. We still had five guys on the ice, but we never really cleared the puck out of the zone and give them another power-play goal. That was the difference in the game. We weren't physically involved in the game and mentally it was like we lost ourselves for 15-or-so minutes.

On the power play
It's the execution. We've been pretty effective entering the zone, but tonight we had problems entering the zone. The power play we had in the third period is more of what we're accustomed to.

Minnesota Wild

Devan Dubnyk
On the game
The guys played really well. We settled down a bit and played a good first, but we were pressing so hard to go, go, go, that it created chances the other way. As the game went on, we got back to playing how we have been. We continued to get our chances and scored two big goals. We were great defensively, but that doesn't mean not giving up any shots. They got more shots when we were tightened up. We're always feeling good when we're up a goal in the third period.

On the importance of the game
It was a big game. [Bruce Boudreau's] candid and emotional, he's a human being. You can tell this game meant a lot to him, and that meant a lot to us. It was nice to get this one for him.

Ryan Suter
On responding with a strong performance
We didn't play good against Columbus at all. We all knew that, and we knew we had to play better. In San Jose the first period was good, the second period was sloppy, and in the third period we got it going. Last game we took a step back again. We were able to get back on the horse and back on the right track. It's a good thing to have that confidence that we can get back to our game.

On team defense
We've given up a lot of goals. That was a key tonight. To bear down and batten down the hatches to make sure we were good defensively. We gave up a few plays, [Dubnyk] was able to stop them, but for the most part we played well defensively.

Zach Parise
On team defense
They've been involved in a lot of the offense. We want to attack with five attackers, as a group and not just our forwards. They've got some good offensive ability. They're a really big part of getting the play started. If your [defense] can't get you out of your own zone, it's a long night.

On the importance of good defense
It's important to us. A long string of games we gave up a lot of goals. For us to get back down to giving up just one, Devan [Dubnyk] played well, it's something good for us, to get back to playing that style were we don't give up a lot.

Head Coach Bruce Boudreau
On tonight's win
I thought, especially for the first two periods, that we played the defensive game that we like to play and didn't allow them a lot. We got back to moving our legs, so it was good.

On facing questions leading up to his return to Anaheim
I love it. Are you kidding me? When you win it's easy to face the questions. It was great coming back. I saw a lot of people that I knew and treated me really well.

On the team's defense finding its game
I think it was there for us, it just slipped away for a while. I truly believe it was because we were scoring a lot of goals and people were starting to cheat for the offense rather than doing the job that we're supposed to do and letting everything else take care of itself. Today we had two goals called back that almost were goals. I thought we had some good chances where we could've still scored three and four goals, but we play strong defensively and I was really happy for [Dubnyk] because it's his first really good game in the last couple. I was glad he got back in the groove.
