HondaCenter

This Wednesday, July 8, the Ducks and Honda Center will partner with UCI Health for the first of three summer blood drives to be held in the Honda Center parking lot. Additional blood drives are scheduled at Honda Center on July 22 and Aug. 5. Honda Center was the site of two previous blood drives with UCI Health since the start of the pandemic, with donations representing the equivalent of 160 saved lives.

Wednesday's event will be by appointment only. Those interested in donating are encouraged to register here. Appointments are available between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The safety of donors and staff will be the utmost priority for UCI Health. Social distancing policies will be enforced, with masks mandatory for all donors and staff members.

As Orange County's only Level 1 Trauma Center, UCI Medical Center requires more than 1,000 blood donations per month in order to meet the needs of patients receiving trauma care. There is no substitute for human blood and as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the need is even greater. Blood donations typically drop during the summer, often resulting in shortages of blood. Honda Center blood drive donations will help UCI Health maintain its supply and save lives in our community.
