The Devils defeated the Buffalo Sabres, 2-1, tonight at Prudential Center with goals by Adam Henrique (PPG) and Pavel Zacha (PPG). Here's what we learned:
1) The Devils snap their home winless streak and get their first win at The Rock in over a month (Jan 2, 3-0 vs BOS). They play the next seven-out-of-eight games at home, so it's important for them to make the most of their home ice advantage throughout the month of February.

2) The Devils power play went 2-for-4 tonight and have been 50% effective in their last four games. Henrique says they've watched a lot of video and made some minor adjustments regarding their puck pursuit down low and getting more shots on net. It's clear that they are being rewarded for their studies.
3) The Devils were aggressive on both sides of the puck tonight with 39 shots on net, allowing just 23 to make it to Cory Schneider, blocking 20 and winning nearly 60% of faceoffs. As the saying goes, they can't score if they don't have the puck. Tonight, the Devils did everything they could to limit Buffalo's offensive zone time/opportunities and it showed all over the scoresheet.
The Devils are off the next five days as mandated by the CBA. They return to the ice late Saturday afternoon before they host the San Jose Sharks on Sunday at 12:30 p.m, which is also Taylor Hall Bobblehead Night. First 9,000 fans will receive their limited edition miniture of our All-Star.
