Nick Merkley continued his strong camp into the first Red vs. White Game on Sunday, registering two goals to help Team Red to a 4-2 win over Team White.
"I thought Nick had a good day. Shot the puck really well. The shot that impressed me was the one in the hole. How quick he got it away and where he put it," Devils head coach Lindy Ruff said.
After the game, the team took part in a 3-on-3 and shootout drill where Merkley had a goal in the shootout.
"I thought I did pretty well down there. Had some chemistry with some guys, so that was nice. I just have to build off that and get that confidence. Settling in pretty nice," said Merkley.
He has a bit of an advantage over a number of other NHLers, having played 19 games in the top Finnish league to start the season.
