The Devils lost, 6-4, to the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight at PPG Paints Arena despite goals by Kyle Palmieri (x2 - 1PPG), Stefan Noesen and Beau Bennett. Here's what we learned:
1) The recent offensive outburst from the Devils has been outstanding. Their attacking play kept them in the game till the bitter end. The scoring tonight is definitely foreshadowing things to come as these young stars continue to develop.

2) Kyle Palmieri is on absolute fire. He has 18 goals since the turn of the calendar year (33 games), five in the last three and 25 on the season. With 13 games remaining, it's more than feasible that he hits the 30 goal mark for a second consecutive season.
3) Although the score might not show it, Keith Kinkaid played very well in net tonight. After earning back-to-back starts on back-to-back nights, he faced 42 shots, many of which were below the hashmarks and on his doorstep.
The Devils host the Columbus Blue Jackets at Prudential Center on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. for Kids Day.
