When asked what $1 Hot Dog Night meant to them, Kelley said "It means cheap food, eating a lot of hot dogs and having a great night watching the Devils."
Gesior and Cribben added it meant spending time with friends. Although these three seem to go way back, it was really the Devils that brought them together about six years ago. Cribben and Kelley are season ticket holders who sit by each other, and Gesior frequents games with them. They became friends a few years ago due to their bond over their love for the Devils, and of course, hot dogs.
If questioned about their favorite topping for a hot dog, all three agreed that cheese is the way to go. Although they never had an official contest, when asked who could eat the most hot dogs, Kelley and Cribben immediately said, "Dan."
"I just eat a lot," Gesior explained. "Throw me some food, I'm pretty sure I'll eat it. As long as it tastes good."
At the time of the interview during the first intermission, Kelley and Cribben each had eaten four hot dogs, where Gesior had already had six. At the end of the night, they had a combined total of 18 hot dogs eaten, with Gesior consuming 10 of those. Regardless of how many they've eaten, they promised to continue dressing up for the occasion, as long as $1 Hot Dog Night makes an appearance during hockey season at Prudential Center.
"We hope everyone enjoyed the night," Cribben said in closing. "We're glad we could help bring this back."
