The New Jersey Devils have re-signed forward Xavier Parent to a one-year, two-way contract. The contract details for 2025-26 are as follows: $850,000 at the NHL level and $175,000 at the American Hockey League (AHL) level, with $200,000 guaranteed. Parent had been tendered a qualifying offer on Monday. The announcement was made by General Manager Sunny Mehta and Devils’ Assistant General Manager/Utica Comets General Manager Braden Birch.
Parent scored 39 points (20g-19a) with 80 penalty minutes in 63 games for Utica (AHL) this past season. His point and penalty minute totals led the Comets, while his career-high 20 goals ranked second. Parent made his NHL debut on December 11, 2025, against the Tampa Bay Lightning and skated in five games last season. He signed his first NHL contract, a one-year, entry-level deal with New Jersey, on March 14, 2025.
Parent, 25, has played the last four years with the Devils’ American Hockey League affiliate, appearing in 209 career regular-season games, scoring 55 goals and 71 assists for 126 career points and 201 penalty minutes. He has recorded four points (3g-1a) in five Calder Cup Playoff contests. Parent also played 50 games with Adirondack (ECHL) during his rookie professional season in 2022-23, scoring 51 points (23g-28a) with 46 penalty minutes.
Born on March 23, 2001, in Laval, Quebec, Parent was an undrafted free agent and signed a two-year American Hockey League contract with the Comets in July 2022. Before his professional experience, Parent played five seasons in the Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with Halifax from 2017-18 to 2018-19, then spent his final three seasons with Sherbrooke. He was named an alternate captain with Sherbrooke in 2020-21 and was later named team captain in 2021-22. Parent earned a career-high 106 points (51g-55a) with Sherbrooke in 2021-22, while his 51 goals were tied for first on the team.
