Devils to Host Autism Acceptance Night | RELEASE

The New Jersey Devils will host Autism Acceptance Night presented by Schindler Elevator Corporation, in partnership with Autism Speaks, on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Prudential Center when the team faces off against the Buffalo Sabres for a 7:00 PM puck drop. Schindler donated 200 tickets to Autism Speaks for those in the community to enjoy the game and the added benefits during the night, including game presentation elements and more.

Cory Singer, singer-songwriter, social media influencer and advocate for the autistic community, will perform the National Anthem. Singer, a New Jersey native, began his career in 2005 as a musical theater performer, starred on BRAVO TV's singing competition, The Kandi Factory, and coined the phrase "Let's Normalize Autism." Honorary Captains, James Finkelstein accompanied by his father Seth Finkelstein, will be honored prior to the game. The Finkelstein's have been supporting Autism Speaks for over 10 years as walk participants for the New Jersey Shore Walk, raising over $35,000. James, a graduating senior at Celebrate the Children School, is on the Community Advisory Council for Autism Speaks, and intends to make his way to college in the next couple years.
Devils goaltender Andrew Hammond has worn an Autism Awareness sticker on the back on his goalie helmet since coming to New Jersey. Throughout his playing career, Hammond has highlighted the cause in support of his nephew, and has showcased a puzzle piece on his helmet. The Devils acquired Hammond on March 21, 2022 from Montreal during the NHL Trade Deadline.

During the game, Autism Speaks will be honored as Group of the Game, have a video content feature in-game, and have a table activation on the main concourse outside of Section 19. Fans will be able to learn more about the Autism Speaks community, and walk away with a t-shirt and sensory items courtesy of Schindler.
A Designated Sensory Room will be available throughout the night. The room will be located in the 1982 Lounge on Suite Level 2 and will be a safe space for those who are a part of the autism community. Those who visit the room will be given a Sensory Kit, including items from Schindler, TVs in the room will show the game but will be muted, and there will be complimentary water and snacks. Additionally, the volume in-bowl will be lowered.
