Sami Vatanen doesn't follow hockey news much in the off-season, but when he saw the news that the Devils had acquired P.K. Subban from Nashville, he took notice.
"Key piece for us," said Vatanen. "He's a great player. He's won a couple of trophies and stuff like that, so it's going to be very exciting for us to have him on the squad and learn from him. I think he's going to do some good things."
Vatanen also believes Subban will provide some important leadership inside the locker room and on the blueline.
"He's a leader. Right away, when he comes, he knows. He's seen it all. He's been playing in playoffs and stuff like that so he knows what to expect there. I think he can teach us a lot."
