After a day off yesterday, the Devils got back to work today with some video analysis from their 4-2 preseason loss to Florida on Saturday followed by a 90-minute on-ice session. The mood was light, with a lot of scrimmage drills that not only helped the players address some areas in need of improvement, but also provided an opportunity for team bonding as a lot of one-liners could be heard flying around out there.

With 10 new faces in the lineup, the biggest focus for head coach John Hynes over these next two days, before the puck drops on the regular season, is integrating not only the different style of play, but also the different personality each player brings to the locker room. The sooner they can come together and compete as a team the better.

Without any organized team bonding activities scheduled, Hynes wants to foster that kind of chemistry building more organically and is excited to get on the road, where players naturally spend more time together. He spoke about that in

There are presently 14 forwards in camp, plus eight defenseman and three goalies after Scott Wedgewood was put on waivers this morning. That means there are still some decisions to be made as the 23-man roster must be submitted to the league at 5 p.m. tomorrow.

Until then!
