The Devils lost, 4-2, tonight to the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Center tonight despite goals by John Moore, including one on the power play. Here's what we learned:
1) After the game, Moore said he was the beneficiary of some lucky bounces tonight, but he also put himself in position to take advantage of those bounces by taking seven shots - two of which missed the net, three were saved by the goalie and two found their way over the goal line. The defenseman also blocked two shots, forced a turnover, and dished out a hit in 21:03 minutes of TOI.
2) The Devils put up a strong battle against the Leafs (who are battling for playoff positioning) in the opening forty minutes of play. At his postgame press conference, Coach John Hynes expressed satisfaction with the effort put forth from the Devils' youth, who showed off their consistency in back-to-back games. Hynes did however, send a message to the vets in the locker room, pushing for a complete sixty-minute effort. Expect the Devils veterans to ratchet up their compete-level as they enter this weekend's contests.
