PRE-GAME STORY

NEWARK, NJ - The Devils play the final game of the season tonight at Prudential Center and they'll do so welcoming back two key pieces to their roster.
"Nico will be able to play, P.K. will be able to play," said Devils head coach Lindy Ruff as the pair return from the illness sweeping through the team this week. He added that a few others may not play as it's their turn to have a bout with the flu.
"We have a couple others who won't be able to play."
The addition of Hischier is a major one for the club, as he had 35 points in a 30 game stretch before having to miss the last couple of games due to illness.
"He's our most important player when it comes to playing at both ends of the rink
The price he pays to help win a hockey game. You can take Nico and Jack out, you take your top two centers out," stated Ruff.
"He's happy to be back and we're looking forward to getting him back out there."
Alex Holtz will play again, after being recalled prior to last night's contest in Carolina. Holtz played on the top line and is expected to get another offensive opportunity tonight.
"We know what his game is. Offensively, it's trying to find that hole. His line, Boqvist was getting all the chances," Ruff said of Holtz. "Getting to that secondary spot. Defensive responsibilities he has to be aware of."
Holtz is one of a number of AHL Utica players currently on the roster. Ruff talked about getting a chance to take a look at these players before they head back down for the Calder Cup Playoffs.
"It gives us a good idea where the players are at. You're looking at six or seven guys are going to go back to Utica. We've pretty much decimated their team. Zetterlund, Holtz, Foote, all these types of players, where are they going to be at in camp or at the end of camp next year? We've had a preview of what their NHL game looks like against NHL competition."
