MONTREAL - Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced on Wednesday that the team has agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract (2021-22) with forward Jean-Sébastien Dea. The contract will see Dea earn $750,000 in the NHL and $450,000 in the AHL.

Dea, 27, will be playing in his eighth season in professional hockey. The 5-foot-11, 168-pound center spent the last season in the Buffalo Sabres organization, playing one game with the Sabres and amassing 15 points (six goals, nine assists) in 15 games in the AHL with the Rochester Americans. Dea amassed five goals and two assists in 33 career NHL games, sporting the colors of the Pittsburgh Penguins, New Jersey Devils and Sabres.
In 380 career AHL games with the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins, the Springfield Thunderbirds and the Americans, the La Prairie, QC native tallied 239 points, including 104 goals.
This marks a homecoming for Dea, who sported the colours of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in the QMJHL between 2011 and 2014, reaching the 40-goal plateau twice.
