PITTSBURGH – The entire Canadiens organization is saddened to learn of the passing of Lyle Odelein, who passed away Friday at the age of 58.

Born in Quill Lake, SK, Odelein tallied 95 points (20G, 75As) in 420 games with the Canadiens from 1990 to 1996. The former defenseman helped the team win the Stanley Cup in 1993. Drafted in the seventh round by the Canadiens in 1986, Odelein ranks second in franchise history with 1,357 penalty minutes, leading the team in that category in each of his six seasons with the team.

Odelein totaled 252 points (50G, 202A) and served 2,316 penalty minutes in 1,056 NHL games with the Canadiens, New Jersey Devils, Phoenix Coyotes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Stars, Florida Panthers and Pittsburgh Penguins.

The organization wishes to offer its most sincere condolences to Lyle Odelein’s family, friends and close ones.
