TEAM COMPARISONS
Montreal returns home with three of a possible four points from its season-opening road trip to Toronto and Pittsburgh. The Canadiens’ play was far from perfect in both games, but there’s something to be said for finding a way to get results on the road — especially after falling behind 5-1 to the Penguins. Back on home ice for the first time since the playoffs, the Habs will look to feed off the energy of the Bell Centre crowd while limiting the mistakes against the defending Stanley Cup champions.
It’s been something of a Stanley Cup hangover for the Hurricanes in the early stages of the 2026-27 season. Carolina was shut out in its season opener, routed by Washington in its second game and needed overtime to get past Philadelphia on Saturday. That said, the Hurricanes remain every bit as dangerous as their reputation suggests, and the Canadiens won’t be taking them lightly. The Carolina team Montreal saw in the playoffs is largely the same group that will take the ice at the Bell Centre on Tuesday, with few significant additions or departures over the offseason.
