NEWARK - The Canadiens announced on Monday that they had recalled goaltender Zach Fucale from the AHL's Laval Rocket on an emergency basis.

The Rosemere native will meet the team in Newark, where they will be playing the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night.

Fucale, 22, has split time with the Rocket and the ECHL's Brampton Beast this season.

With Laval, the Canadiens' 2013 second-round pick (36th overall) has posted an 8-3-0 record, 3.10 goals-against average and .891 save percentage in 12 games in 2017-18.

There has been no confirmation on Fucale's status for Tuesday night. Antti Niemi, who was in nets for the Habs against the Bruins, missed practice on Monday for a therapy day.
