THIS WEEK'S NEWS, NOTES AND NUMBERS…

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: "There's lots of young guys, I've been here for a while now… There's more than a 10-year difference now, so it's a little bit different. But at the same time, once you make a team, we are all on the same page, on the same boat. It doesn't matter if you're 19 or you're 40. We are a team, we are a family, and that's how it is." - David Krejci on the young players competing for roster spots

PROSPECTS CHALLENGE: The Bruins rookies will participate in the 2017 Prospects Challenge from September 8-11 at HarborCenter in Buffalo (100 Washington St., Buffalo, NY 14203). Bruins prospects who participated in last year's tournament and also played in at least one regular season game with Boston in 2016-17 include forwards Anton Blidh, Peter Cehlarik, Danton Heinen, Sean Kuraly, defensemen Brandon Carlo, Matt Grzelcyk, Rob O'Gara and goaltender Zane McIntyre.

The Bruins' rookies will compete against the Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins, and New Jersey Devils' rookies in the round-robin challenge featuring prospects from each team. The event is being held entirely at HarborCenter. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the Sabres Box Office at the KeyBank Center, online at Sabres.com, or by calling 1-(888)-223-6000.

BRUINS ACADEMY THE CURRICULUM: The Boston Bruins announced the launch of Bruins Academy - The Curriculum, a collaboration with Autodesk Inc. The engaging Common Core-aligned lesson plans help cultivate the students' creativity by casting students as designers for projects ranging from rethinking the fan experience to customizing hockey equipment.

Autodesk will also host two participating classrooms for a workshop at the Autodesk Boston BUILD (Building, Innovation, Learning and Design) Space. Teachers, parents and students in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Vermont can learn more about the program and sign up for Bruins Academy- The Curriculum at their school by visiting www.bostonbruins.com/thecurriculum.

To date, over 2,000 local youth have participated in the Bruins Academy Learn to Play program. This year, $2,000,000 (retail value) worth of equipment will be dispersed throughout the community through this program.

For a registration fee of $100, participants will receive a full set of CCM hockey equipment to keep valued at $500 retail, which includes skates, a professional fitting, and four weeks of on-ice instruction led by certified coaches and NHL Alumni. The Bruins Academy Learn to Play program has helped to increase hockey participation, and over 60% of the youth hockey players who participated in this program last year subsequently enrolled in organized hockey.
