Robert Thomas will be named the 25th captain in St. Louis Blues history during a press conference on Thursday afternoon at Enterprise Center.

Colton Parayko, Philip Broberg, Jake Neighbours and Dylan Holloway will be named assistant captains for the 2026-27 season, which officially begins Oct. 2 in Dallas where the Blues will begin a season-opening three-game road trip.

Fans can watch Thursday’s press conference — which will also feature Blues General Manager Alexander Steen and Head Coach Jim Montgomery — live at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3 on YouTube, the Blues App and stlouisblues.com.

Thomas, 27, will become the seventh original Blues draft pick to be named captain after being selected in the first round (No. 20 overall) in the 2017 NHL Draft. The Aurora, Ontario native will be entering his ninth season with the Blues.

The center began his career in 2018-19, when he logged 33 points (nine goals, 24 assists) in 70 regular-season games as a rookie and contributed to the Blues’ first-ever Stanley Cup championship. In 2023-24, Thomas posted a career-high 26 goals and 86 points and earned a selection to the 2024 NHL All-Star Game. He followed up that performance with an 81-point campaign in 2024-25 to become the first Blue since Brett Hull (1995-97) to record consecutive seasons of 80 or more points. He also joined Adam Oates and Bernie Federko as the only players in Blues history to log at least 20 goals and 60 assists in multiple seasons.  

Last season, Thomas collected 64 points (25 goals, 39 assists) in 64 regular-season games, including ranking 12th in the NHL in points (31) and second in plus/minus (+25) following the Olympic break.

Blues reveal Robert Thomas as 25th captain

Overall, Thomas has appeared in 530 regular-season games as a Blue. He has led the team in points and led all Blues forwards in time-on-ice per game in each of the last three seasons. He currently shares 10th in franchise history in total points (460) and ranks fifth in assists (328).

Parayko, 33, has served as an assistant captain for the team previously. He ranks third all-time in games played by a Blue (800), trailing only Bernie Federko (927) and Barret Jackman (803). He has recorded 81 goals and 232 assists (313 points) to go along with a plus-61 rating in his 11 seasons in the Blue Note.

Broberg, 25, joined the Blues before the start of the 2024-25 season. The Orebro, Sweden native has posted 14 goals and 49 assists (63 points) in two seasons in St. Louis and has served as an assistant captain previously. He signed a six-year contract extension with the Blues in January 2026.

Neighbours, 24, was drafted by the Blues in the first round (No. 26 overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft and has played parts of five seasons in the Blue Note. In 280 career regular-season games, Neighbours has recorded 71 goals and 61 assists (132 points) and has worn an ‘A’ on his jersey previously. 

Holloway, 24, joined the Blues before the 2024-25 season and will be wearing an ‘A’ for the first time in the Blue Note. In two seasons in St. Louis, the Calgary, Alberta native has recorded 48 goals and 66 assists (114 points) and signed a five-year contract extension in May.
