GAME 47: BLUE JACKETS AT ISLANDERS

SETTING THE STAGE: After navigating the first difficult week of the "second half," the Blue Jackets are about to embark on another.
They managed a 3-1-0 record in four games against two teams that are both playing well and in the heart of the Eastern Conference's playoff picture (Carolina and Ottawa), and if not for a remarkable goaltending performance on Thursday night, they very well could have ended the week with four wins in four games.
Sunday's 7-6 overtime win in Ottawa was as strange as it was forgettable for the Blue Jackets, who were not thrilled with their play in the first two periods but managed to find something in the third period and get the game to overtime. On Tuesday night in Brooklyn, they'll face another team that has turned its game around of late, and despite sitting at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division, the Islanders are still in the race.
Jack Capuano was dismissed as Islanders coach last week after seven seasons, and in stepped former NHLer Doug Weight as the team's interim coach. The Islanders are 2-0-1 since the coaching change, with wins over Dallas and Los Angeles and an overtime loss to the Flyers on Sunday afternoon. Columbus won the only previous meeting between the two teams this season, a 6-2 decision at Nationwide Arena back on Dec. 10.
NOTEWORTHY NEWS: Matt Calvert was back in the Blue Jackets lineup on Sunday after sitting one game as a healthy scratch. Calvert scored a huge goal in the third period to make it a 5-5 game and was reunited with familiar line mates William Karlsson and Josh Anderson. Markus Nutivaara and David Savard (both undisclosed) remain day-to-day. Sergei Bobrovsky is expected to start in goal for the Blue Jackets.
