Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Damon Severson underwent successful surgery on Thursday to repair an injured shoulder and will miss the rest of the season, club President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Don Waddell announced today. Severson suffered the injury at Montreal on Thursday, March 26.
Severson, 31, has recorded eight goals and 24 assists for 32 points with 45 penalty minutes, 93 shots on goal and a +18 plus/minus rating, while averaging 21:04 of ice time in 71 games with the Blue Jackets this season. He ranks third on Columbus in average ice time and second among club defensemen in assists and points.
The 6-2, 204-pound Melville, Saskatchewan native has registered 81-267-348 and 531 PIM in 855 career appearances with the Blue Jackets and New Jersey Devils since making his NHL debut in 2014-15. He has posted 23-62-85 and 143 PIM in 208 contests over three seasons with Columbus since being acquired in a trade from New Jersey on June 9, 2023. He was originally selected by the Devils in the second-round, 60th overall, at the 2012 NHL Draft.
