Victorious Against Vegas

Ross Colton's game-winning goal powered the Avalanche past the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 in preseason action at Ball Arena on Tuesday. Drury, Polin and Kiviranta also scored for Colorado, while Trent Miner made 22 saves in net for the Avalanche.

"[Avalanche Head Coach Jared Bednar] preaches that we [have to] slash," Colton said about his line with Drury and Gavin Brindley. "And we did that a bunch of times, and we got rewarded. I thought we were good defensively, too."

How It Happened

Drury opened the scoring at 10:43 of the first period with a right-circle one-timer off a two-on-one rush chance set up by a Ross Colton's cross-ice feed.

Vegas' Tanner Laczynski tied the game at 55 seconds of the middle frame with a shot from the slot.

The Golden Knights took a 2-1 lead when Joe Fleming scored from the doorstep at 11:55 of the second period.

Polin tied the game at 1:59 of the third period with a shot from the low slot.

Colton gave the Avs a 3-2 lead at 5:54 of the third period via a shot from the low slot set up by Drury's feed.

Kiviranta doubled Colorado's lead with an empty-net goal at 19:59 of the third period.
