Subban-Trevor-Noah

Showtime started for P.K. Subban before he even stepped in front of the cameras at "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah."

While prepping for the show taping by having a chat with Noah in the studio's green room, the Nashville Predators defenseman got the show's host to get in on a video for his social media followers. They shouted out to his fans, then Subban turned and planted a kiss on Noah's cheek. Then Noah returned the smooch. And after he signed off, Subban just had to tell Noah.
"Your skin is so soft!," Subban said.

Subban had arrived a few minutes earlier for his appearance on the Comedy Central program Wednesday, made a beeline to the coffee machine, and mingled with the handful of Predators staff that came with him, his agent, Jill Smoller, and members of the show's crew before Noah walked to the green room to meet him.

Noah told Subban how much he loved his story, particularly how he isn't afraid to show his big personality as one of the few black players in the NHL, and that he uses his platform to do so much good in the community.
Subban replied that being a top player in the league had always been his primary focus, because he couldn't have as great an impact without first being a star on the ice.

After Noah left the green room to tape the beginning of the show, Subban worried about how he was going to deliver all the gifts he'd brought for Noah on stage. There was a Subban Nashville Predators jersey, a Blueline Buddies shirt, a tracksuit to "keep him warm in the winter," and two Smashville cowboy hats that lit up. He was able to deliver them on stage after the interview was over.

A delighted Noah put on the cowboy hat and shouted to the audience: "What do you guys get at your jobs? Nothing!"
Much of the on-camera interview was about Subban's $10 million pledge to the Montreal Children's Hospital (Noah asking Subban if he'd mistakenly added an extra zero got a big laugh from the crowd) and his Blueline Buddies program that pairs Nashville law enforcement officers with underprivileged youth at Predators games.
"You're an amazing man," Noah said.
