It’s a busy week for the Utah Mammoth. The team starts the week with a road back-to-back before returning to Delta Center to start a four-game homestand.

The Mammoth will host their annual Hockey Fights Cancer night on Nov. 22. Limited tickets are available here.

Here’s the major storylines going into the week:

Main Storylines – Utah

  • Utah starts the week with a back-to-back on the road against the Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks. The Mammoth have special guests in attendance as it’s the team’s Moms Trip.
  • The Mammoth snapped a three-game losing skid last week and secured three out of four possible points in their last two games. The team will look to build off that and get back into the win column, especially early this week in front of their moms!
  • Utah played its 100th game in franchise history on Nov. 14. Through the organization’s first 100 games, the team has a 48-38-14 record. Four players have played all 100 games: Ian Cole, Jack McBain, Nick Schmaltz, and Kevin Stenlund.
  • Heading into the week every player on the active roster has a point for the Mammoth, including both goaltenders. Here’s a further breakdown:
    • Six skaters with over 10 points through the first 18 games of the year.
      • Nick Schmaltz: 21, Clayton Keller: 18, Mikhail Sergachev, Dylan Guenther, Logan Cooley: 14, JJ Peterka: 13.
    • 16 skaters have at least one goal this year, while 10 have multiple goals.
      • Multiple goals: Schmaltz: 10, Cooley: 8, Keller and Guenther: 7, Peterka: 6, Crouse: 4, Sergachev and Carcone: 3, Yamamoto and Hayton: 2
    • Utah’s blueline has contributed 39 points through 18 games (6G, 33A).
      • Sergachev leads all Mammoth defensemen with three goals, 11 assists, and 14 points.

UTAH AT ANAHEIM

This is the first of three games between the Mammoth and Ducks this season. It’s also the first of two-straight in California.

Main Storylines – Anaheim

  • Anaheim has started the season off strong with a 11-6-1 record through the team’s first 18 games. As of Monday, the Ducks are second in the Pacific Division with 23 points.
  • The Ducks are looking to snap a three-game skid in the first game of a six-game homestand when Anaheim hosts Utah Monday night. However, the Ducks have gone 7-3-0 over their last 10 games.
  • One key to Anaheim’s success has been their high-powered offense. The Ducks are averaging the second most goals per game in the NHL (3.67). Three players have 10 or more goals this season while 10 skaters have multiple goals this season. Every skater on the roster has at least a point and seven skaters have 10 or more points through the team’s first 18 games (all stats from Monday).
  • Lukas Dostal is the Ducks starting goaltender. He’s played 14 games, has a 8-5-1 record, has a 2.86 goals against average, and a .903 save percentage. Petr Mrazek has played four games, has a 3-1-0 record, a 3.72 goals against average, and a .887 save percentage.

This is the second of three games between the Mammoth and the Sharks this season. This is the first of two in California.

Main Storylines – San Jose

  • San Jose is 8-8-3 heading into the week, and are on a two-game losing skid after a four-game win streak. The Sharks are 6-3-1 in their last ten games.
  • In his sophomore season, Macklin Celebrini leads the Sharks in all scoring categories with 10 goals, 17 assists, and 27 points. Celebrini is one of 23 skaters who have registered a point for the Sharks this season. 16 skaters have scored a goal for San Jose this season as well (all stats from Monday).
  • Yaroslav Askarov has played 11 games for the Sharks this season. He has a 5-5-1 record, a .906 save percentage, and a 3.09 goals against average. Alex Nedeljkovic is 3-3-2 through his first eight games. He has a .902 save percentage and a 2.97 goals against average (all stats from Monday).
  • Tuesday is the first of four-straight at home for the Sharks. San Jose will host the Los Angeles Kings, Ottawa Senators, and Boston Bruins this week.

This is the first of three games between the Mammoth and Golden Knights this season and the first of two games in five days between the clubs.

Main Storylines – Vegas

  • Vegas is 8-4-6 and enters the week on a three-game points streak. However, the team has gone 3-3-4 in their last ten games.
  • As of Monday, the Golden Knights are the third-best faceoff team in the NHL (53.8%), have the 10th best power play (23.1%), and are limiting their opponents to the 11th fewest goals per game (2.89).
  • Pavel Dorofeyev has a team-high 11 goals, while Jack Eichel leads the team with 24 points. Eichel and Mitch Marner are tied for the team-lead with 16 assists (all stats from Monday).
  • 14 of Vegas’ skaters have a point or more in the team’s first 18 games while 12 skaters have at least a goal.
  • Entering the week, Akira Schmid has played the majority of Vegas’ games. Through 10 games and eight starts, Schmid has a 7-1-2 record, a 2.50 goals against average, and a .900 save percentage. Carl Lindbom makes up the second half of the tandem with Adin Hill injured. Lindbom has played five games, has a 0-3-2 record, a 3.18 goals against average, and a .873 save percentage.
  • The Golden Knights host the New York Rangers at home on Tuesday before a three-game road trip with stops in Salt Lake, Anaheim, and Salt Lake again.

Main Storylines – New York

  • Entering the week, the Rangers are 10-8-2 through their first 20 games and are 7-3-0 in their last 10. New York is coming off a 2-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings.
  • New York is on a three-game western swing this week as the Rangers face the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday, Colorado Avalanche on Thursday, and Mammoth and Saturday. Following the three-game trip, the team returns to New York.
  • As of Monday, the Rangers are allowing the second-fewest goals per game in the NHL (2.45) and are the ninth-best faceoff team in the league (52.7%). New York’s 37 goals on the road are the fourth-most in the league and the Rangers allow the second-fewest goals on the road as well (21).
  • 18 of the Rangers’ skaters have at least a goal while 22 of the 25 skaters who have played a game for New York this season have a point or more.
  • Igor Shesterkin enters the week with a 7-6-2 record through 15 games, a 2.39 goals against average, and a .913 save percentage. Jonathan Quick has a 3-2-0 record through five games, a 1.42 goals against average, and a .951 save percentage.
