San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Mike Grier announced today that the club has signed goaltender Eric Comrie to a two-year contract worth $1.15 million AAV.
Comrie, 30, posted a 12-11-1 record over 25 appearances with the Winnipeg Jets last season, finishing with a 3.13 Goals Against Average and .890 Save Percentage. The netminder spent the previous two campaigns with the Jets, logging a career-high two shutouts in the 2024-25 campaign and finishing the slate with a .914 SV% and a career-low 2.39 GAA. He also appeared in his first three career Stanley Cup Playoff games that season, recording a 1.40 GAA and .923 SV%.
Comrie has amassed a 45-47-4 record in 102 career NHL contests with a career 3.11 GAA, .896 SV% and four shutouts, splitting his tenure in the league between the Jets, Detroit Red Wings, New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres. He made his NHL debut on April 6, 2017 at Columbus as a member of the Jets, earning a win with a 35-save effort, logged his first career shutout on April 27, 2022 vs. Philadelphia, also a member of the Jets and also with 35 saves on the clean sheet, and appeared in his 100th career NHL game on April 11, 2026.
The goaltender has also appeared in American Hockey League (AHL) games in parts of 10 seasons, representing the St. John’s IceCaps, Manitoba Moose, Tucson Roadrunners and Rochester Americans. He has competed in 214 career AHL games, owning a record of 94-95-21 with 11 shutouts, a 2.81 GAA and .912 SV%.
Prior to his professional career, Comrie was named to the Western Hockey League (WHL) West Second All-Star Team in 2013-14 and 2014-15 as a member of the Tri-City Americans, leading the league with a .925 SV% in 2013-14. He concluded his tenure in the WHL with 168 games over four seasons, logging a career 2.67 GAA, and .916 SV% with 10 shutouts in the league.
In international competition, Comrie has represented Canada at the 2017 IIHF Men’s World Championship, earning a Silver Medal, and 2015 World Junior Championship, where he earned Gold. He played in a pair of games at World Juniors, posting one shutout and finishing the tournament with a 1.50 GAA and .933 SV% with a 2-0-0 record.
The six-foot-one, 190-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta was originally selected by Winnipeg in the 2013 NHL Draft (second round, 59th overall).
