Following morning skate head coach D.J. Smith confirmed that defenceman Erik Brannstrom will be making his return to the lineup, with Tyler Kleven likely to slot out as the seventh defenceman. Below is how the team skated at Canadian Tire Centre:

Joonas Korpisalo gets the start in net for the Senators tonight:

Penalty: Senators called for the first penalty of the game as Josh Norris is called for tripping Andrew Mangiapane at the 16:41 mark. A few chances in both directions but the Sens kill off the penalty and it's back to five-on-five play.

Goal: Mathieu Joseph opens the scoring tipping in a slap shot from Jake Sanderson with 8:39 remaining in the period.

Penalty: Vladimir Tarasenko is called for a tripping penalty on Martin Pospisil with 6:38 left in the first. The Senators kill this one off, still 1-0 Sens.

Power Play: MacKenzie Weegar is called for a trip on Mathieu Joseph at the 2:24 mark in the period. Sens get the man advantage.

Goal: Just 43 seconds into the power play, Drake Batherson bats in the loose puck behind Dustin Wolf on the power play to give the Sens a 2-0 lead.

Power play: Drake Batherson races down the ice for a loose puck and is held up by Nikita Zadorav who is called for interference at the 13:36 mark.  Calgary fights off this one, back to even strength.

Goal: Calgary gets one back on a two-on-one as Coleman puts on past Korpisalo.

Power play: Blake Coleman called for interference on Brady Tkachuk at the 16:13 mark in the period.

Power play: Sens draw a second penalty as Elias Lindholm is called for tripping Jakob Chychrun to take a five-on-three advantage for 1:11 with 2:58 left in the second

Calgary kills off both penalties.

Penalty: Rourke Chartier is called for tripping on Elias Lindholm with 34 seconds to play in the second period.

The Senators kill off the penalty to start the third period.

Goal: Rourke Chartier scores his first as a Senator off a tic-tac-toe passing play around the Calgary net.

Goal: Travis Hamonic connects on a slapshot from deep as Mathieu Joseph jumps to stay out of the way, 4-1 Sens.

Power play: Mathieu Joseph weaves his way through the Flames in the offensive zone and is hooked by Blake Coleman to give the Sens a man advantage with 9:59 to play.

Calgary holds off the Senators on the power play.

Senators hold on for the 4-1 win!
