OTTAWA – Ottawa Senators president of hockey operations and general manager Steve Staios announced Friday the club has acquired forward Andre Burakovsky from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Ottawa’s sixth-round draft selection in the 2027 NHL Draft.

“Andre adds skill and playmaking ability to our forward group,” said Staios. “We are happy to add the pedigree of a two-time Stanley Cup champion.”

Burakovsky, 31, won the Stanley Cup with the Washington Capitals (2017-18) with the Colorado Avalanche (2021-22). He established career-highs in that 2021-22 season with Colorado in goals (22), assists (39) and points (61). Burakovsky spent the 2025-26 campaign with the Chicago Blackhawks, where he scored 11 goals and 33 points in 75 games.

In 771 career games across 12 NHL seasons, the Klagenfurt, Austria, native has collected 164 goals, 256 assists and 420 points. Burakovsky was originally a first-round draft pick (23rd overall) of the Washington Capitals in the 2013 NHL Draft.
