20230112 Luukkonen Mediawall 01

The Buffalo Sabres have recalled goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen from the Rochester Americans, the team announced Thursday morning. Rookie forward Jack Quinn has been loaned to Rochester in a corresponding move.
In 13 games this season, Luukkonen is 9-3-1 with an .894 save percentage and a 3.49 goals-against average. He's won his last six starts with Buffalo and made at least 35 saves in four of those games.

Luukkonen will join goaltenders Craig Anderson and Eric Comrie on the active roster.
"These are good problems," general manager Kevyn Adams told the media Monday night after Comrie was activated from injured reserve and Luukkonen was initially loaned to Rochester. "There's a lot of things in this job that are challenging, but this is great.
"We have three guys now that are healthy, that we believe in. We really like where UPL's game is right now, the way he's progressed and developing and the games he's played.
"… The key on the UPL part is we really like where he's at and we want to see him keep getting reps and minutes here."
The Sabres will face the Winnipeg Jets tonight at KeyBank Center. Faceoff is at 7 p.m. on MSG and WGR 550 with pregame coverage on MSG starting at 6:30. Tickets are on sale now.
