Jets team scope

Winnipeg has lost the first two games of its five-game road trip, including a 4-1 loss to the Boston Bruins on Friday. Conner Hellebucyk is likely to start in goal after Michael Hutchinson made 34 saves against Boston. The Jets had a season-low 12 shots and just two even-strength shots through two periods. "We view this as an outlier in 20 games," Jets forward Blake Wheeler said. "Our challenge is figuring out what went wrong and trying not to duplicate it (Sunday)." The Jets and Hurricanes played the season opener for both teams on Oct. 13. Winnipeg erased Carolina's three-goal lead in the third period before Mark Scheifele scored in overtime for a 5-4 win.

Hurricanes team scope

Cam Ward will make his sixth straight start in goal for Carolina, which will try to extend its three-game winning streak. Ward has allowed two goals or fewer in six of his past seven starts. "I feel like I'm in a rhythm," Ward said. "I just feel comfortable and confident in what I'm doing. Just playing with a quiet mind." The Hurricanes are closing out a five-game home stand.
