Bob-CBJ-Cup

The Columbus Blue Jackets will win the Stanley Cup because they have a coach with a proven track record and the goaltending necessary to win a championship.

John Tortorella has a Stanley Cup championship on his resume, having won with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2004. He also guided the New York Rangers to the Eastern Conference Final in 2012. Tortorella's experience and ability to get the best from his players will prove to be a difference maker when the playoffs get underway.
Sergei Bobrovsky is enjoying another outstanding season, his sixth in Columbus. Bobrovsky, 29, nearly won 40 games for a second straight season and had five shutouts. Bobrovsky is good enough to steal games, which any goalie must do in the postseason.

The Blue Jackets forward group is led by Artemi Panarin, who has shined in his first season in Columbus, averaging one point per game. Panarin had eight points in 11 playoff games over two seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks before he was traded to the Blue Jackets on June 23. Panarin is tied with Cam Atkinson and Josh Anderson for the Blue Jackets lead with five game-winning goals this season.

Columbus provides a balanced attack up front with three 20-goal scorers (Panarin, Atkinson and Pierre-Luc Dubois), and five more who have reached double digits (Anderson, Nick Foligno, Sonny Milano, Boone Jenner and Oliver Bjorkstrand). With so many forwards capable of providing offense, Tortorella will get a matchup in his favor more often than not.
On the blue line, Seth Jones and Zach Werenski give the Blue Jackets two of the best young defensemen in the game. Jones, 23, nearly had 60 points this season and will be a weapon on the power play. Werenski, 20, fell just shy of 40 points.
