SALT LAKE CITY - Reilly Smith scored twice and had an assist for the Vegas Golden Knights in a 6-4 win against the Los Angeles Kings at Vivint Arena on Thursday.
Brayden McNabb and Chandler Stephenson each had a goal and an assist, and Jack Eichel and Mark Stone each had two assists for the Golden Knights. Logan Thompson made 14 saves. Sean Durzi had a goal and two assists for the Kings, and Cal Petersen made 22 saves. Kevin Fiala gave Los Angeles a 1-0 lead with his second goal of the preseason at 1:52 of the first period, and Gabriel Vilardi made it 2-0 at 6:09. Smith cut it to 2-1 at 16:36, and McNabb tied it 2-2 at 5:14 of the second period. Stephenson gave Vegas a 3-2 lead at 17:43. Trevor Moore cut it to 4-3 with a power-play goal at 2:21 of the third period, but Smith responded on the man-advantage for his second goal of the game at 8:37 to make it 5-3. Durzi scored a power-play goal at 15:51 to make it 5-4, but Alex Pietrangelo responded for the Golden Knights at 18:52 for the 6-4 final.
