Wheeler congratulates Scheifele

There’s a new franchise points leader in Winnipeg and Blake Wheeler couldn’t be prouder.

The former Winnipeg Jets forward congratulated Mark Scheifele on passing him on the team’s all-time points list in a special video on Saturday.

Scheifele claimed the top spot on the Jets’ all-time scoring list after notching a power play goal for his 813th career point in the first period against the Nashville Predators at Canada Life Centre.

“Well, Scheif, the day we knew was coming has come,” Wheeler said in a video posted by the team. “I remember in 2019 when I broke the record, and we got back to the bench, and you were congratulating me, and I let you know I was going to hold on to this one for you for a little bit and now that time has come.

“It’s only fitting that the first-ever draft pick in Jets 2.0. history is now the leading scorer in franchise history. Here’s to many, many, many more points to come. I know you still got a lot more left in ya. Just know the Wheelers are your biggest fans. We are cheering you on from afar as always.”

Wheeler and Scheifele played 13 seasons together with the Jets from 2011-2024. Wheeler had 812 career points (262 goals, 550 goals) in 897 games with the franchise. Scheifele now has 813 career points (342 goals, 471 assists) in in 884 games.
