The mask features beautifully drawn angel statues on either side with the Kings retro crown logo. The top is dual film strips with palm trees inside each frame while the backplates shows likenesses of his children and dog.
Forsberg had a similar color scheme while also paying homage to Kings legends last season, his first in Los Angeles.
Speaking of continuous themes, Washington Capitals goalie Logan Thompson uses a different movie for every mask. In the past there were nods to "National Treasure" and "Night at the Museum" but this season's is the 1996 Tim Burton cult classic "Mars Attacks!".
The mask features the campy alien invaders and their spaceships as well as Jack Nicholson's president Dale on the sides above prominent Capitals logos. The idea, Fried says in a short video clip, came about during a discussion while Thompsons was being tattooed.
